We welcome you to reach out with any questions you may have as we understand that engaging in therapy, especially for the first time, can be a daunting task. Below are some frequently asked questions that can help guide you through the booking process.
The length of time it takes to see results from counselling sessions with Beautiful Balance Counselling varies depending on the individual and the issues being addressed. Some clients may see improvements after just a few sessions, while others may require longer-term therapy.
The therapists at Beautiful Balance Counselling are licenced professionals with advanced degrees in counselling or a related field. They have extensive training and experience working with individuals, couples, and families.
Non- Insured Health Benefits for First Nations and Inuit is a program providing coverage for professional mental health counselling to complement other mental wellness services that may be available to clients or in communities. The program provides eligible clients with coverage for benefits not available under other federal, provincial, territorial or private health insurance.
You can access your mental health counselling benefits with Beautiful Balance Counselling as we are enrolled in this program. We also generally send claims to bill the program directly. Claims processing services are provided by Express Scripts Canada. Information can be found on the Express Scripts Canada NIHB provider and client website.
Claims cover costs that are eligible for reimbursement under the program as per established fee guides. You may also submit reimbursement requests yourself. Every calendar year, an eligible client can receive up to 22 hours of counselling performed by an eligible provider on a fee-for-service basis (such as, individual or group counselling). Additional hours in the same calendar year may be provided on a case-by-case basis.

Counselling, as well as cultural and emotional support, is also available through the Indian Residential Schools Resolution Health Support Program for eligible former students and their families.
Beautiful Balance Counselling provides counselling services for anyone over the age of 18.
Although Beautiful Balance Counselling does not do direct billing, or submit claims on your behalf, services offered are generally covered by private health insurance benefit packages. However, coverage and benefits for traditional therapy and therapy services change from one health insurance company to another and from plan to plan. We recommend that you consult with your health benefits provider to ensure that your sessions are covered. Please keep in mind that all of our practitioners are Registered Social Workers (RSW) with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW) who hold a Master of Social Work degree (MSW).
Note: As of September 26, 2012, counselling services provided by Registered Social Workers (RSWs) can be claimed as a medical expense tax deduction when you file your income tax return. In other words, Registered Social Workers are now authorized “medical practitioners” for the purpose of claiming medical expenses.
Payment is due at the time of service, and will be collected via the Jane App credit card system, via e-transfer or cash. Once charged, a receipt will be sent to the email assigned to your Jane App profile. Please keep your receipts to submit at year-end (if services are provided by a registered social worker) for a medical expense tax deduction, or to submit to your health benefits plan for reimbursement.
